I'm amazed that people are amazed

Whenever we can, Jaine and I promote the cause by talking to people and handing out Pearl Island America cards.

I am amazed that people are amazed.

For example, I met a very kind woman with a chihuahua in front of the San Francisco Ferry building who went out of her way to help me get to the pier I needed to go in order to get to Vallejo.  I told her about our trip and handed her a card and she said she'd follow us.  On the ferry, I met Keith who was a merchant marine and now worked on the ferry.  What an interesting person!  He's traveled all over the world and we had a lot of experiences we shared.  He said he'd follow our route on our website.  At Vallejo I was biking down Georgia Road for about a mile or so  when I found about 6 blocks of the road cordoned off for a farmer's market.  A guy who looked like Carlos Santana was playing music with his guitar and it was very cool. The place was packed so I got off of my bike and started walking.   A young father of a really nice Hispanic Family noticed my Go Pro camera on my helmet and we started talking.  He was a super nice guy! His family was very polite, it was clear that Mom and Dad were very excellent parents.  We talked for a few minutes and I handed him our card.  He said he'd follow us.  After leaving Vallejo, the road got pretty hilly.  I was climbing up a long protracted hill when I saw a lady in pretty good shape walking up the hill ahead of me.  As I approached her I told her she was a 'warrior' and she started jogging with me.  I told her about our trip and she thought that was very cool.  I couldn't hand her a card, but she repeated 'Pearl Island America' a couple of times and said she'd follow.  I stopped at a gas station in Cordelia to go to the bathroom and talked to the people behind the counter about our trip.  They were so friendly and really excited about what we are trying to do.  They said they'd follow. The really nice guy who checked us in at the Econo Lodge said he'd follow.  It's like that everywhere.  I am simply amazed how kind, friendly and genuinely open people can be to someone who previously was a complete stranger.

There are a lot of Good Samaritans in our world. I guess I'm more amazed about how genuinely kind and nice people are by nature.
