Starting to feel the changes

So far I've ridden 3 days averaging around 40 miles per day and I'm already starting to feel the changes.  Before I left the Point Bonita YMCA, I weighed myself and found I had a starting weight about 191 lbs.  I weighed myself at the end of today's ride and weighed 183 lbs.  I'm going to weigh myself every day, once at the beginning of my ride and once at the end of my ride. It'll be interesting to see how much I weight when I dip my front tire in the Atlantic Ocean.

My weight starting on my second day of riding.

The weather has been great for biking, temperatures in the 70's and 80's  with light breezes and even though I've been sweating, I don't really feel it.  That's bad, because it makes you think you don't need to drink as much fluids and I started to get cramps in my upper left thigh after yesterdays ride.  Also had a sore neck and back from riding all day.   Lesson learned because today I put half Gatorade and half water in my Camelbak and made sure I drank a lot of fluids even though I didn't feel thirsty.  No problems today and I feel great at the moment.  Tip of the hat for my brother Rick for getting me tuned in to Gatorade.

Tomorrow Jaine and I tackle our first mountain.  We'll be going from Folsom CA to Kirkwood CA in the next couple of days and hopefully be in South Lake Tahoe by Thursday.  If we make it we'll be in Nevada...Woot!
