YMCA Bike Rodeo

Today, Jaine and I were at the Green County YMCA Bike Rodeo promoting fitness and bike safety in order to support our cause.  It was really a lot of fun and I have to say I really admire the energy and innocence of young happy children.  We had a spinning bike wheel with a placard on it saying a bunch of things to do like "Do 5 pushups!" or "Do 10 Jumping Jacks"...things that will get them moving and after they spun the wheel and did what the placard requested, we would give them a small prize.  I remember one of the items on the spinning bike wheel was "Win a Prize!"  implying that the person spinning the wheel 'lucked out' and didn't have to exercise to get a gift.   Sometimes the wheel would stick and there were about 4 kids that got "Win a Prize" in a row.  When the fifth kid got "Run Around the Gym!" I lined up with the little girl to start running with her around the room and when I said "On your mark, Get Set, Go!"  all 5 kids started to run with us just because it was fun to do.  What a hoot!  They were so much fun.

Our community donated 10 bikes to be given to kids and a drawing was made at the end of the rodeo.  It was so much fun to see the lucky kids who won standing next to their new bikes.  I hope those kids enjoy their new bikes and continue to ride for the rest of their lives to remain fit, healthy and happy!
